President Bingu wa Muthrika, 78, got sick in the morning while having an audience with Member of Parliament for Lilongwe West, Agnes Penemulungu. Just after few minutes into the discussions, he collapsed and he was immediately rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe in a government ambulance registration number MG948AB.
Principal Secretary (PS) for Health Willie Samute confirmed that president is sick but said every patient has the right to privacy.
According to an eye witness who saw the ambulance carrying wa Mutharika reaching the emergency door at KCH; said everybody around was chased and within a minute he was rushed inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The place was cordoned off and at the parking lot; ‘men-in-black’ changed the number plates of the vehicles that brought Mutharika to the hospital.
