As the countdown to the Malawi Congress Party –MCP convection continues, a total of four new names in politics have been tipped to join the presidential race against the current leader John Tembo and his Secretary General Chris Daza for the top position.According to our investigations the four that are in favour of many MCP die- hards include Farmers Union –FUM President Felix Jumbe, Reverend Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of the assemblies of GOD, Richard Msowoya ,who once served as Minister of education during the dpp regime, and Lovemore Munlo the former Chief Justice. When contacted MCP director of elections Joseph Njobvuyayema could neither deny nor confirm the names. He was however quick to point out that the contestants will only be known when they officially fill the forms. Njobvuyalema described the development as a mere hype towards the national indaba set for 27th to 29th of this month. He said the party will soon call for all the interested contestants to come forward and fill nomination papers. The director of elections refused to disclose the names that have officially approached him arguing time is not ripe yet.According to Njobvuyalema the party will soon publicize the names of the candidates. In his reaction to the findings MCP Secretary General who openly declared his interest to contest for the top position said he is not moved with the big names being mentioned.Daza maintains that he is ready to face any one at the convection.Efforts to speak to Jumbe, Chakwera and Richard Msowoya proved futile as they could not be reached on their mobile phones. But a highly placed and influential member of the party confined in this blogger that the four are popular within the rank and file of the party.
