The Deputy Speaker of the Malawi Parliament Jones Chingola and granted police bail.
He was arrested this morning for possession of four lethal guns. These weapons are two AK 47 assault rifles, two pistols and 54 rounds of ammunition. The items were found at his private bussiness offices at Mchesi, within the capital Lilongwe.
The police invaded his offices following a tip off that he was keeping the guns inside the ceiling of his offices. A police source said Chingola granted bail at Lilongwe Police station in Area 3.
Meanwhile Speaker of Parliament, Henry Chimuthu Banda us expected to make a statement in the chamber this afternoon on the arrest.He has also invited all heads of political parties to brief them on the matter.
